Black Myth: Wukong/ Final Boss/ Ending/ How to Guide
Defeating the final boss in Black Myth: Wukong is no small feat. The Great Sage’s Broken Shell is a multi-phase encounter that will test every skill and strategy you’ve learned throughout your journey. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you conquer this challenge and emerge victorious.
How to Defeat the Final Boss in Black Myth: Wukong
It is not easy! But if I can do it, you can too. This game is all about passion, strategy, learning and practice. So, don’t give up. Here is a phase wise breakdown how I won this battle:
Getting Started: Preparation is Key
Before you step into the final battle, you need to be fully prepared. This fight takes place in the Waterfall Cave located in the northwest of the map, behind where you defeated the Son of Stones boss. To access the battle, ensure you have collected all four Mythical Armor pieces — Golden Armored Rhino, Cloudtreading Deer, Feng-Tail General, and Emerald-Armed Mantis — and equip them to unlock the Mythical Weapon required for the fight.
Recommended Loadout For Beating Final Boss
- Armor: Full Mythical Armor Set.
- Weapon: Mythical Weapon unlocked at the start of the final battle.
- Items: Tiger Subduing Pellets, Evil Repelling Medicament, Amplification Pellets.
- Upgrades: Maximize Defense, Health, and Burn Resistance by allocating Mind Cores at Xu Dog’s shrine in Chapter 2.
The boss uses two types of elemental damage: Burn (fire) and Frost. It is advisable to prioritize burn resistance, as this element is used throughout all phases of the battle.
Phase Breakdown and Strategies:
Phase 1: The Stone Monkey
The fight begins against the Stone Monkey, a single opponent with relatively low health but several dangerous attacks:
- Fire Shockwaves: The Stone Monkey slams the ground, creating shockwaves of fire that radiate outward. Dodge through the shockwaves to avoid taking damage.
- Leap Attacks: Watch for a wind-up animation where the Stone Monkey leaps into the air; dodge to the side to avoid being crushed.
- Basic Melee Combos: The Stone Monkey uses simple melee combos. Stay mobile and use quick attacks between its combos.
Strategy: Use this phase to get familiar with the boss’s attack patterns. Save all of your spells and powerful abilities for the later phases.
Phase 2: Two Stone Monkeys
In Phase 2, a clone of the Stone Monkey appears. You now face two bosses simultaneously:
- Cloned Attacks: Both Stone Monkeys share similar moves, but they can attack from different angles.
- Focus Fire: Use all your powerful spells and abilities to quickly eliminate one of the Stone Monkeys. This will turn the battle back into a manageable 1v1.
Strategy: The key here is to stay calm, keep moving, and focus your damage on one target at a time. The clones do not have much health, so dispatch them quickly to proceed.
Phase 3: The Great Sage’s Broken Shell (Weak Form)
After defeating the Stone Monkeys, the Great Sage’s Broken Shell will appear. This form looks similar to your character and mimics many of your own moves:
- Mimic Attacks: The boss mirrors your moveset but with amplified strength and size.
- Staff Throws and Slams: Be prepared to dodge staff throws and slam attacks.
- Fire Ring: Avoid getting trapped in the fire ring he creates. Wait for the boss to exit the circle to initiate an attack.
Strategy: This phase has a checkpoint, so if you die, you’ll restart here with full health and mana. Focus on using quick attacks and dodging; save your powerful spells for the next phase.
Phase 4: The Great Sage’s Broken Shell (Strong Form) – Final Phase
The final phase begins after a brief cutscene. The Great Sage now appears with glowing gold eyes and a full health bar:
- Intensified Attacks: Expect the boss to combine multiple combos with increased aggression. Keep your distance and counterattack after each assault.
- Aerial Assault: The boss will fly on a cloud and attempt to grab and slam you; dodge immediately to avoid taking massive damage.
- Healing and Buffs: When the boss drinks from a gourd, interrupt it with quick attacks to prevent healing.
Strategy: Use all your remaining spells and abilities to deal as much damage as possible at the start of the phase. Prioritize dodging and counterattacking. This phase is all about patience and precision; learn the patterns, time your moves, and don’t rush.
